Vancouver has received funding pledges of more than CAD$3 billion from the federal and provincial governments for a critical part of its ambitious public transport expansion plan. The Canadian city will see the funds go to extension of an elevated, light rail line and the construction of a light rail transit line. The expansion plan will accommodate the network to the demands of a growing population in one of the world’s most liveable cities. Last year, the network had a record number of boardings at 407 million, making it one of the busiest in North America.
