The most spectacular road in the world now belongs to Chile. The Chilean government, together with the US private foundation Tompkins Conservation, inaugurated a new route that crosses Patagonia by connecting Puerto Montt with Cape Horn. This epic stretch of road is 2,800 km long and crosses 17 national parks, 60 communities, and involves 91% of the Chilean nature reserves. The project is part of the government's policy of supporting sustainable development, which ranges from redevelopment of natural resources to clean energy policies. In fact, the share of clean energy of the total produced in Chile has gone from 3% to 18% in the last five years.
