On August 15th Panama celebrated the 104th anniversary of the interoceanic waterway between the Atlantic and the Pacific. With the old system of locks, inaugurated on August 1914, and with the new canal built in 2016 by the European consortium led by Salini Impregilo, the passage of one million and 200 thousand ships, of size and category, was allowed. The impulse to global trade translates into record numbers. Over 4,000 New Panamax ships have crossed the new canal, a result far exceeding the expectations of the Panamanian authorities for this unique infrastructure in the world.
