SALINI MAGAZINE - WE BUILD VALUELIKE US ON FACEBOOK

Women comprise half of the population of the United States, but only one out of five architects is female, and one out of seven an engineer. This is more or less the same ratio as anywhere else in the world. In spite of what the statistics show, the role of women is becoming increasingly more important. This is demonstrated by the many projects underway at the World Bank and the United Nations, where women hold leadership positions in infrastructure. One example is the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), an association created in the United States that gives an annual WE50 prize to the 50 most influential women in engineering. In November at London’s Waldorf Hilton, 300 of the world’s most influential women in the infrastructure sector will meet to take part in the “Women in Infrastructure” forum.
