The Paris-Saclay research campus has been called one of the world’s top 10, and the French government wants it to become Europe’s Silicon Valley. Now it is destined for further development thanks to a new metro line. Paris-Saclay is 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of Paris, home to thousands of companies and the most important research centres in France. In 2026 -- according to official plans -- Line 18 of the French metro will be opened, part of the Grand Paris Express project that connects the towns of the Ile-de-France region with Paris. Line 18 will be equipped with 10 stations, will reach 13 municipalities and 335,000 inhabitants, and will be able to transport 100,000 people every day. This strategic infrastructure will cut travel times between the research center and the capital of France, making it even more competitive.
