SALINI MAGAZINE - WE BUILD VALUELIKE US ON FACEBOOK

The Gateway Program is a $15 billion project to rebuild a 10 mile (16 kilometre) railway line that connects the Big Apple to New Jersey runing through a tunnel under the Hudson, as well as fix a series of bridges. Each day 450 trains and 200,000 people travel on this aging rail link, which urgently needs to be modernized. Construction work has already been started, but the federal government and in particular the Trump administration is not willing to share the cost. The state governments of New York and New Jersey are instead convinced that the Program is crucial to eliminate delays on the Northeast Corridor, one of the busiest commuter railways in the US that crosses nine states and is travelled by 800,000 people each day.
