Illinois State Governor J.B. Pritzker announced a $45-billion plan to modernise the state’s infrastructure network in and around Chicago in recent weeks. The plan, called "Rebuild Illinois,” will allocate funds over a six-year period during which 540,000 jobs will be created. Most of the budget - 69% - will be allocated to transport, with projects planned to improve subways and rail links, as well as roads and bridges. The goal is to improve mobility in one of the most important exchange hubs in the United States. Much of the funding will go towards the development of intermodal mobility in Chicago between its port and rail links.
