Australia should resort to wind and solar power to reduce its reliance on coal to produce electricity, according to the World Resources Institute. These two renewable sources of energy would help the country meet the demand for power from its growing economy without consuming vast amounts of water like coal. Water is a precious resource in Australia because it is limited in supply. According to the institute, it ranks among the top 20 water-stressed countries with the most average solar and wind energy potential.
