The numbers of the Moscow Metro

On December 7, service began on a 21-kilometre-long (13-mile) section of the Big Circle Line, a new subway line that rings the Russian capital.

Ten stations opened in one go, and the others will follow — between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 – creating a 70-kilometer-long (43-mile) metropolitan ring capable of transporting 3.3 million people every day, distributed in 34 metropolitan districts.

The Moscow municipal administration is focusing on sustainable transport to accompany the incredible urban growth of this megalopolis that now is home to 20 million inhabitants.  According to Deputy Prime Minister of Moscow City Government Marat Khusnullin, 70% of Muscovites use the metro regularly, making it the most common and popular form of transport in the city.
